We Condemn All Acts of Violence
September 24, 2009 – 9:06 PMAccording to the Associated Press, “The body of Bill Sparkman, a 51-year-old part-time Census field worker and occasional teacher, was found Sept. 12 in a remote patch of the Daniel Boone National Forest in rural southeast Kentucky… Investigators are still trying to determine whether the death was a killing or a suicide, and if a killing, whether the motive was related to his government job or to anti-government sentiment.”
This appears to be an act of murder. We want it to be known that if it is a murder, we condemn this act unconditionally. There is no room in the politics of our country for wanton crimes of hate, and violence. That is our stand on the issue.
Our hearts and prayers go out to the family of Bill Sparkman, a man described in the press as a kind and gentle individual. We certainly condemn such acts of brutality and we do hope and pray that, whoever did this, will be caught and brought to justice.
