Do You Know what ANWR is?
July 2, 2008 – 4:48 PMANWR = Arctic National Wildlife Refugs
Now. A comparison
And some perspective.
NOTE WHERE THE PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT AREA IS.
(it’s in the "ANWR Coastal Plain")
THIS IS WHAT THE DEMOCRATS, LIBERALS AND "GREENS" SHOW YOU WHEN THEY TALK ABOUT ANWR
ISN’T ANWR BEAUTIFUL? WHY SHOULD WE DRILL HERE (AND DESTROY) THIS BEAUTIFUL PLACE?

WELL. THAT’S NOT EXACTLY THE TRUTH
Do you remember the map that showed the proposed drilling area is in the ANWR Coastal Plain
Do those photographs look like a coastal plain to you?
WHAT’S GOING ON HERE? THE ANSWER IS SIMPLE.
THAT IS NOT WHERE THEY ARE WANTING TO DRILL!

THIS IS WHAT THE PROPOSED EXPLORATION AREA ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE IN THE WINTER

AND THIS IS WHAT IT ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE IN THE SUMMER

HERE IS A SCREEN SHOT FROM GOOGLE EARTH

AS YOU CAN SEE, THE AREA WHERE THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT DRILLING IS A
BARREN WASTELAND. That’s Correct a BARREN WASTELAND
AND THEY SAY THAT THEY ARE CONCERNED ABOUT THE EFFECT ON THE LOCAL WILDLIFE.
HERE IS A PHOTO (SHOT DURING THE SUMMER) OF THE
"DEPLETED WILDLIFE" SITUATION CREATED BY DRILLING AROUND PRUDHOE BAY.

HERE’S THAT SAME SPOT DURING THE WINTER.

THIS BEAR SEEMS TO REALLY HATE THE PIPELINE NEAR PRUDHOE BAY

The Prudhoe bay area accounts for 17% of U.S. domestic oil production
NOW, WHY DO YOU THINK THAT THE DEMOCRATS ARE LYING ABOUT ANWR?
REMEMBER WHEN AL GORE SAID
THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD WORK TO ARTIFICIALLY RAISE GAS PRICES
TO $5.00 A GALLON?
WELL.
AL GORE AND HIS FELLOW DEMOCRATS HAVE ALMOST REACHED THEIR GOAL!
NOW THAT YOU KNOW THAT THE DEMOCRATS HAVE BEEN LYING,
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT IT?

We are continually amazed at the lack of common sense in the world among those who are the “most educated”. We have the opportunity to free ourselves from the bondage of tyranny from the Middle East, with very little impact on the environment, yet we can’t seem to get the public support and understanding of the truth on the matter. Why is that?

Uh, I may be missing the point here, but in the second map, which is labeled “What the Democrats, Liberals and “Greens” show you when they talk about ANWR” there are tiny little red arrows that indicate “PREVIOUSLY DEVELOPED SITES” according to the legend. Look closely. So this is not “pristine” wilderness. It’s already had development on it. So, their shorts are in a knot because…?????

“…free ourselves from the bondage of tyranny from the Middle East…? is a completely delusional statement.
I may be wrong, but many of the pictures show classic landforms of peat and permafrost – very sensitive and already becoming degraded by warming temperatures. Peat and permafrost contain vast quantities of carbon.
Look, I know I’ve already been labeled as a whacko liberal (or worse), but I have to ask both the poster and the first commenter how much they really know about any of this.
Before you accuse anyone of “lying” you should make damn sure you know what you’re taking about.
We can do much better for this country than this sort of weak-minded rhetoric.
Be a patriot, think for yourself.

Thanks for the education about ANWR… Much of this stuff about ANWR is still new to me… Astounding how little our media is sharing with us about this topic.
Recently a friend returned from Alaska with a picture of one of the pipelines… I was surprised to see how insignificant a feature it was on the landscape.

Tom, clearly we must drill here before this “sensitive” landform is covered by the rising sea level of the Arctic Ocean!

Instead of paying too much attention to anything said here, go to the source – the Energy Information Agency’s report:
http://www.eia.doe.gov/oiaf/servicerpt/anwr/introduction.html
If you want the highlights they’re here:
http://www.usnews.com/articles/news/national/2008/05/23/arctic-drilling-wouldnt-cool-high-oil-prices.html
We also might want to ask why oil companies aren’t developing the 68 million acres of federal leases they already have but are not exploiting – the pdf government report is here:
http://resourcescommittee.house.gov/images/stories/Documents/truth_about_americas_energy.pdf
These resources should be read by anyone and everyone truly concerned about the future of our energy economy.

“…free ourselves from the bondage of tyranny from the Middle East…”?
This is indeed a delusional statement. ANWR drilling will do almost nil to our dependence on foreign oil. In fact, if we took ALL the easy oil out of the ground, we would still import tons from overseas.
The only sane way to get the middle east off our backs is to cut way back on using ALL oil.
And I’d much prefer keeping the oil in ANWAR and force the Arabs to use up their oil first. We can go after our own oil then.
And another point, the USA has invested less than $20 million in wind and solar. We spend 8 billion a month in Iraq. And we subsidize the oil industry multiple billions a month as well.
Just think how far we would be ridding the oil monkey if this money was going to alternative energy sources.
In summary, drilling in ANWAR will not help Americans nearly as much as it will help the oil companies bottom line. We’ve got to stop being duped by their clever campaigns.

I have read the post from Mark above, and find his information to be inaccurate in certain areas, as the data I have studied regarding the subject of drilling in ANWAR does not support his position. In fact, my data supports the concept that, if America were to access its known oil reserves within its jurisdiction, this union of states could be energy independent for over 200 years (of course it will take a number of years to develop the wells and build refineries). Now, what Mark states about the big corporations is partially true, however, it isn’t just the oil corporations who are to blame. There appears to be a conspiracy existing between the oil corporations and the corporation calling itself United States, which for those who don’t know it, is nothing more than a privately held business corporation, and is not lawful de jure government. All of these corporations, being as greedy as they are, work to the benefit each other. The “government” corporation “legislates” “laws” (really color of law) and uses its agencies such as EPA to make it appear as though it is hindering big oil companies, when, if it were known, it is actually helping said companies, as they all, under the control and influence of international bankers, can then exploit countries in the middle east, and blame it on “government”, or “global warming” or whatever other scheme one can think of. If people would only research the subject in detail, they would find numerous accounts where this beast, calling itself government, actually goes out of its way to work AGAINST the the very people those working in government have sworn an oath to protect. Call it conspiracy theory or whatever you want, however, when the facts become known, it becomes evident that collusion and corruption most certainly exists. The only way we can REALLY become energy independent,is first for the people to wake up and realize what is actually happening to them, both spiritually and politically, and then, armed with this knowledge, and a lot of courage, right the sinking ship, i.e., re-establish a de jure constitutional republican form of government, that being a union of independent nations comprising a loose federation of states calling itself the united States of America. Will this be easy and accomplished with little personal burden? Of course not. It is so out of hand at this time that I believe this can only be accomplished with a great deal of God’s help, as it is the absence of God in our lives that has let us lapse into the ignorant state in which we find ourselves today. If we simply sit back and wish that things would get better, but do nothing to cause it to get better, it will not get better.

It does look like they have stopped them from drilling with the new Government. Killing landforms are horrid.

I read an article about where the proposed drilling site is, and a very respected ecologist said that the area is very important to the ecosystem in ANWR. It also said that the original proposed size for the Prudhoe Bay Drilling fields was a mere 2100 acres, and has since grown to a huge 640,000 acres! why would anyone want that to happen to ANWR? that pic above “heres the same spot in winter” i would like to point out all of the Caribu, thats right along their migratory path… oh and the oil in ANWR might not even be that good theres a DEO report that states there is “considerable uncertainty regarding both the size and quality of the oil resources that exist in ANWR.”
